This brow bar is really easy to find on the ground floor of Harvey Nichols - just head towards the bustling crowd in the purple corner! The girls working there are super-efficient both in seating you (even if you're just lurking in the vibrant chaos) and threading (I'm sure mine didn't take even as long as 10 minutes, and this was after an unintentional caveman phase), and explain and show you what style will suit you before you commit to anything. My threader wasn't excessively friendly, but she was helpful and informative which is what counts, and I did manage to feel at ease because she was so attentive, despite the buzzing of voices around me. Although it was busy, there were a couple of seats and girls free, though they do take appointments online, and apparently have treatment rooms in the back, where people can request to be threaded (and obviously waxed/massaged) in privacy. As far as I saw, all of their customers at that point were ladies, but apparently 1/4 (or something) of their customers are men. You're given hand sanitiser before the treatment starts, then your eyes are wiped down with a cleansing tissue, and you're handed a mirror to check up on the work throughout the process, tissues if your eyes start watering, and then they massage a soothing gel-cream to your brow area after it's over. Mine looked really clean after it was done, and they really do 'open up' your eyes. Plus, they actually listen to you when you say you don't want thin hooker brows! I'd say it was worth the first-timers pain (it's a really weird sensation!), considering it didn't hurt after it was over. A little tip: go to the bathrooms by the lifts and make sure there's no hair left on your face. And maybe wait there until the redness goes down, if you forgot your huge sunglasses! It took me a couple hours to looks normal again, but fortunately it was an even pink-redness, not a blotchy look. £17 is quite expensive for eyebrow maintenance, but I didn't trust a cheaper place to shape my brows initially (but may try one for just maintenance), and in London it isn't too unreasonable for a reputable company in an accessible location. It's like the sort of place you can fit in between shopping/work shifts. They give you a loyalty card which has stampable rows to get your 6th brow threading and 6th lip threading free. My only real gripe is the open bar feel - although it's tucked in a corner, and I was lucky enough to be right in the corner, it's still a little awkward knowing that people may be watching you tearing up from the pain! Maybe I'll request a treatment room next time, to preserve my dignity!
