Fabulous staff let down by poor processes including communication between different services in the hotel. Could have been an excellent experience that was only good because of this. I have written separately to the hotel manager.

I bought a Wahanda voucher for a pedicure / nail treatment for a friend. She also seemed happy with the result, and, overall, had complaints. That said, she wasn't dazzled by the spa facilities either.

Although the hotel itself is beautiful, the spa may disappoint if you go in expecting the full spa experience. Located on level -3 of the building, the spa itself looks like it could use some pampering.

The decleor facial was excellant with a very competent therapist. The leisure facilities were good but the current refurbishment programme will hopefully upgrade the tired decor etc. The staff in the leisure area were very friendly and helpful.
Afternoon tea was excellant.

Venue a bit tired and in need of modernising, especially chaging rooms and relaxation area. Treatments themselves lovely. We were meant to get afternoon tea, a bit of a mix up at the hotel so we didn't-the main problem being it took some time on the day and several emails afterwards to clear up what shoulde have been a minor mistake/inconvenience on their part-poor customer service. Won't be back.

The room was spacious and clean and the treatments were extremely enjoyable. The only negative was that the swimming pool was very busy meaning that it was difficult to get a seat.

I booked the Wahanda deal for a back and shoulder massage and use of the spa facilities. The massage was excellent. I had a really good therapist from New Zealand who has a lovely friendly and professional manner and obviously enjoys her job.
Unfortunately the facilities in the spa didn't work so well for me. The changing rooms are cramped and dated. The showers are located are located at the back of the changing area but this isn't obvious to new comers as you have to go through an unmarked door by the toilets to get to them!. There's a single cold shower located at the back of a pillar by the pool - I would have prefered more showers by the pool to save you having to wait for others to shower down.
The pool was ok, rather small, but nicely lit. The sauna was great and really hot. The steam room was ok, could have been hotter. The jacussi seemed to take a long time to go through its cleaning cycle.
I enjoyed my afternoon, particularly the massage. The facilities are ok but not as good as other spas in Edinburgh.
