I purchased a voucher from Living Social for half-head highlights, conditioning treatment and cut/blowdry. I was able to book an appointment easily by phone which was a good sign. On arrival at the salon the staff were very friendly and attentive. I was seen on time and had the same stylsit throughtout the appointment. He did a very good job on both the cut and highlights, which I was very pleased with.

I had my hair washed and the conditioning treatment seen to by a young girl - she did a great job and the head massage was lovely. The conditioning treatment was applied properly and for the correct amount of time. The chairs have a great back-massage function which is also very pleasant. The one negative was the cold water - the salon were experiencing problems with the hot water supply but the staff did everything they could to produce warm water from boling kettles etc.

Overall I was very pleased with the service I received at this salon and the fact I was treated like every other paying client, despite having a voucher. I will definitely come back if any further offers for this salon become available.

Having read reviews of this salon I thought it would be a great place for a cut and dry but my first impression when phoning to make an appointment was that the lady at the other end sounded a bit unfriendly and rude. However, this was nothing compared to the hairdresser who did not seem happy to see me and then argued with me about the style I wanted. I have never had such a bad experience at any hair salon or felt so miserable afterwards. The facilities are tired and do not reflect the gloss of the surrounding area. Judging by other reviews I simply saw the wrong person, but I cannot recommend it at all based on my experience.

I love this salon, Antonio is fantastic, all staff are friendly and i always come out pleased with my colour.I only stray away when the pennies are tight as it is not cheap- but when I have the cash I am faithful to Atherton Cox!

The salon is relaxed, off the beaten track and a lovely place to chill out and be pampered and quite frankly if you're having your hair cut you don't want to be stressed out. There's enough of that outside the door! The women that wash your hair will give you a head massage if you want one and expertly wind a towel round your head in a way I have never managed. Someone will take your coat offer you tea and coffee and if you don't end up feeling a little embarrassed at all the attention you're more of a starlet than me. There is an army of them and it's always someone new, so I can't compliment any personally - but there are very few duds.

I got my hair cut by Mick. He's an absolute star, completely mad and great fun for a chat. That's not to say we don't disagree. He does of course cut hair exceptionally well. In fact, he's the only person I've trusted to touch my hair for oh, well I won't embarrass him by saying how many years, but quite a few...

He cuts your hair the way you want it, but that doesn't mean he won't offer his opinion if he thinks you're about to do something awful to it... eek. He takes his time, he takes pride in his work and has a habit of having you leaving looking scarily like a new person. He'll listen if you want him to lay off any specific product, even if he thinks it's a mad choice, he'll let you put your foot down.

Hair ad flick anyone..?

Just popped in today for a haircut with Philippe. The chairs in the hairwash section have nice in-chair massage units that massage your back as you have your hair cleaned. Also, got a nice head massage with the conditioner.

As usual, Philippe was great and all is good. The construction that was apparent last time I was there seems to be coming to an end, so the salon looks better. I think its a handy place with a good location. FYI, my haircut was £40.

I have been getting my haircuts here for years and years - the place used to be called Shipton & Leighton, but changed its name to Atherton Cox. The latest person who cuts my hair is Philippe, and I must say he is the coolest guy and an amazing hairstylist (he recently has become very busy because he is the hair designer on the TV programme 'How to look good naked').

Anyway, this salon in the heart of Marylebone is always buzzing, and although the prices have come up, it always delivers great value and a modern cut. They also have a beauty salon downstairs which i have yet to sample, but I will definitely be doing so. Philippe is amazing and I would highly, highly recommend him to anyone. I have also had my haircut with the japanese woman stylist who is also amazingly detailed and cool.
