On arrival at Ananda you are presented with some prayer beads and a white kurta pyjama. It is not obligatory to wear these, but my Uncle and I donned them straight away and spent the rest of our few days' trip looking like yoga gurus.
A wide range of treatments is on offer at Ananda, from massage through to facials and manicures. My favourite treatment was the hot and cold stone massage, which left me feeling so relaxed I could barely get up afterwards. I also had a wonderful Himalayan facial. Other highlights included a rose petal bath, delicious meals in the restaurant (accompanied by music from a sitar, tabla and bansuri) and a pranayama class with a lovely instructor. My uncle was so relaxed in the pranayama class that he fell asleep after 5 minutes!
Watch out for the monkeys that hang around in the trees outside the hotel rooms and outside the restaurant. Amazing to see.
