The Alpen Med Hotel Lamm in Seefeld, Tirol, welcomes its guests to a world of purist design and innovative health treatments.
Tradition and contemporary design blend seamlessly with clear contours and minimalist elements at this stunning 4-star hotel. It offers guests a stylish environment in which to relax and be pampered.
Owned and managed by the Seyrling family for five generations, the hotel has 71 rooms and suites, some decorated in traditional Tirolean style, others in warm yellow, orange and red tones, or in modern black and white.
At the Lamm, the focus is on medical wellness, but in an ambience of contemporary architecture. Guests are offered a wide variety of medical-therapeutic applications, all supervised by a highly skilled team of doctors and therapists. These include physiotherapy, lymph drainage, breathing therapy, electro-therapy, Marnitz therapy, massages, as well as medical golf training. Both classical medicine and alternative methods are practised. All guests are offered a medical examination at the beginning and end of their stay.
But, the nucleus of the Lamm’s medical health treatments is the cold chamber with its cryotherapy. Cold therapy primarily produces pain relieving effects, reduces inflammation, calms stress conditions, and improves blood circulation and metabolism of the musculoskeletal system. The cold chamber penetrates damaged areas to regulate cellular activity levels and therefore improves cardiovascular functions, energy levels and muscle metabolism. Thanks to its positive effects, cold therapy is used in the treatment of inflammatory rheumatic conditions, as well as skin irritations and stress-related disorders but many also value its preventative effects.
The hotel is a wonderful place in which guests can relax and many visit to combat general ‘burn out’. To optimally counteract stress and fatigue, a seven-day stay is recommended. The AlpenMedHotel Lamm offers packages that include 12 regeneration and stress therapies in the cold chamber, two Feldenkrais method sessions, three coached outdoor activities and three tailored relaxation treatments.
BEAUTY AND NUTRITION
For guests wanting to learn more about enjoying a healthy diet, developing an exercise schedule, and simply generally improving one’s wellbeing, the ‘Moving Diet – Enjoyable Movement’ package is on offer. In addition to a specially created diet plan and sporting activities, it incorporates two workshops – one on healthy eating, with head chef Klaus Markart, and the other on enjoyable movement with the manager of the health world, Dr. Georg Kettenhuber.
SPLASHING OUT
The spa features a beautiful, atmospheric indoor pool which is divided into two sections. One wing has a counter current system, making it perfect for swimming, while the second wing invites guests to relax with Jacuzzi beds, a Jacuzzi bench and a wild water channel with Jacuzzi cups and massage jets. The sauna area, offering panoramic views, also includes a Roman steam bath, hot whirlpool and a cold tub. The hotel has a great deal to offer holidaymakers looking for relaxation with a diverse range of fitness and exercise activities to harmonise the body, mind and spirit. The modern fitness studio and gym are perfect for Qi Gong, Feldenkrais, cardiovascular, back and muscle training, as well as for breathing therapy and relaxation exercises. A qualified fitness coach is also available for personal training on request. It’s therefore no surprise that members of international premium football teams are among the hotel’s regular guests. I love this spa. It's set in a gorgeous Alpine village so you can wander out and eat in fabulous restaurants and peruse the shops if you get bored (but you won't). It's a funny mix of old and new - parts are still quite olde worlde Tyrolean, while other parts are all pared back minimalism but with a serious dose of comfort. I loved my bedroom with its chrome and leather chaise longue and mohair throw. The bed was one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in.
The spa itself is all smart and gleaming and just so professional. The therapists were all stunning and I had some of the best massage I've ever had here. Be warned - Austrians aren't remotely coy and you just strip off (and may have a male masseur). You get what you need here and my therapist used kinesiotape to fix a headache and also a dodgy Achilles. He also recommended cryotherapy, which is a specialty of the spa - where you spend a few minutes in seriously subzero temperatures. It IS scary at first but the results are incredible. I limped in and nearly bounced out.
Aqua aerobics was good fun. The gym was pretty good too, if I recall.
Food is excellent and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. My only grouch was that it seemed odd for a health spa to allow smoking in the bar - that put me off. But otherwise, just superb.
