Hotel spas are self-contained spas within a hotel or hotel complex. More than just a place to have a dip after a good night's sleep, these days hotel spas offer a whole range of health and beauty treatments. Some of the most famous hotel spas are The Dorchester Spa, The Berkeley Health Club, The Spa by ESPA at Gleneagles and the Four Season's hotel spas all over the world.

One of the best things about hotel spas is their fantastic facilities, they're known for their sizeable pools and state of the art gyms. Most spas in large hotels, particularly in the luxury chains, have all the facilities you'll find in some of the best day spas including sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, cardio suite, free weights, class studios, treatments rooms, relaxation area and premium-quality products too. If you're lucky enough to be staying at the hotel, often use of the spa will be included in the price of the room, but almost all hotel spas are available for use by non-residents. If you're visiting rather than staying, you'll have the option of paying to use the facilities for the day or just popping in for a specific treatment with one of the hotel spa therapists.
The treatments on offer at hotel spas vary depending on the country you're in and the calibre of the hotel. On the whole, you can expect a core menu of treatments to include a few types of massage, facials, manicures, pedicures, waxing, body wraps and exfoliation treatments. Some hotel spas take their health and wellbeing treatments to the next level, though, with specialist experiences like acupuncture, colonic hydrotherapy or personal training sessions.
While a hotel spa isn't quite the same thing as a dedicated health farm or destination spa, it's still a fantastic choice for a pamper weekend or a stag or hen do because you can stay in the hotel and visit the spa as you please. Perfect when you want to mix up your pampering with gourmet meals in the hotel restaurant, drinks in the swanky bar and the luxury of cat naps whenever you fancy.
