Channel 4’s Bleach, Nip, Tuck on Tuesday explored ethnic minorities who go to great lengths to change their height, shape and skin colour to look more ‘white’. Meanwhile, BBC1’s Anita Rani looked into the sometimes risky skin-lightening products in Make Me White, discovering an in illegal trade and finding out why Western culture sees paler skin as the fairest of them all.
