From: Top to Toe,
Instant tans have always sounded like the perfect bronzing remedy for forgetful or busy women - simply smooth on for immediate sun-kissed skin. However, I’ve tried too many instant and gradual tans to count, all giving different results. Some left me with unattractive orange streaks after being unexpectedly caught in the rain and others had more staying power. So which to choose?
I was keen to try Irish brand KARORA’s new Wash-Off Tan, which claims to stay put when it matters but wash off easily with soap and water. The colour lasts up to 24 hours and also disguises unsightly skin perfections, such as thread veins and blemishes, while containing grape seed oil and Argan oil to moisturise and keep skin smooth.
Using only organic and natural extracts, KARORA offers a pure alternative to other cosmetic and tanning brands which use chemicals and parabens. With no artificial fragrances either, the products won’t irritate sensitive skin. KARORA’s self tanning range includes Tan Mist, Gradual Bronzing Moisturiser and Instant Tan for plenty of choice, depending on how you like to achieve that golden glow.
Purple and gold seem to be the colours of choice for the brand - and the Instant Wash-Off Tan is no exception. The packaging looks mysterious and exotic, with a floral pattern wrapped around the tube – reflecting the nature of the active botanicals contained within the product. Something to note - this is a wash-off tan that can be used for your face too, which I think speaks volumes about the gentleness of the product.
Probably one of the most important features of a fake tan - after a good, natural colour and none of the dreaded streaking - is an appealing scent. So many brands struggle with the ‘burnt biscuit’ smell, as it’s commonly described. I am pleased to announce that KARORA have succeeded in creating a fruity, sweet-smelling instant tan - with no hint of the biscuit at all!
I felt a bit nervous putting the tan on at first, as it did look very shimmery. However, once blended in vigorously, it actually looked extremely natural, with a very fine shimmer. It’s best to make sure that you moisturise everywhere beforehand - although the tan made my skin feel nice and smooth, it wasn’t rich enough to moisturise properly. It lasted well - I was especially surprised when none of the colour rubbed off onto my bed sheets during the night. It also rinsed off easily during a shower the next morning.
The product is fairly pricey - at £12.99, there are a lot of cheaper alternatives on the market. However, you certainly get what you pay for, something which I think is definitely true of fake tan products in general. When it comes to the Instant Wash-Off Tan, you are paying for better ingredients - there’s a lot of good, natural stuff in this one. KARORA is on to a winning formula.
