Forget the frocks – it was the stars’ hair and beauty looks that kept us glued to our screens during the Golden Globes coverage on Sunday. Needless to say, the A-Listers were out in force with polished up-dos, perfect manicures and glowing complexions galore – but there were a few leading ladies who managed to stand out from all the rest. Read on to discover which celebs we think deserve a trophy for their services to hair and makeup...
Zooey Deschanel: Tuxedo nails
Our favourite look of the night, Zooey’s fun tuxedo nails (pictured) were the perfect reminder not to take beauty too seriously. Team with a colourful dress to add a quirky touch, or wear with monochrome for head to toe black and white chic.
Angelina Jolie: Red lips
We’ve got to hand it to her - Queen of the red carpet Angelina certainly knows how to pull off red lippy. There’ll be no lipstick-stained teeth or smudged lip liner when Ange is around – we bet she doesn’t even leave a mark on her champagne glass.
Emma Stone: Smoky eyes
Proving that the smoky eye will never get old, Emma Stone took to the red carpet in pewter eyeshadow with bold cat-flick eyeliner. Want to steal her style at home? Invest in metallic shadows to give this old-fashioned classic a fabulous futuristic twist.
Salma Hayek: Ombre waves
Salma chose to ditch the straighteners and wear her on-trend ombre hair in voluminous waves – the perfect way to show of her lavish locks. To copy her look at home, use a curling tong with plenty of heat protective spray – you don’t want to damage your delightful ‘do.
Charlize Theron: Side bun
Charlize’s simple side bun had us smitten – definitely a look we’ll be trying on our next night out. Gently tousled and pulled back with a glittery hairband, the actress’ locks seemed to say ‘Oh, this? Just something I threw together...’. Try it at home and it might take you a while to master, but sssh...keep schtum and no one will be any the wiser.
