No strangers to London Fashion Week, the RUSH Session Team were enlisted this February to work alongside Nina Butkovich-Budden backstage at Francesca Marotta’s dramatic AW12 show. The show was inspired by the designer’s recollection of oppressive Sicilian funerals, and one thing was for certain – subtlety was not the order of the day.
From a texturised hairstyle designed to mimic a crown of thorns, to soft curls topped with a red Perspex crown, the looks created by the RUSH team perfectly complemented the black lace creations that dominated the runway. But what did the expert hairdressers make of the other LFW hair trends? We spoke to Sam Burnett, of the RUSH Session Team, to find out:
What new hair trends did you see emerge during London Fashion Week?
The style: Fringes, 90s inspired, blunt.
The colour: Bold colours, especially all over block blondes.
The do: The pony tail
Which of the catwalk hair trends do you think is the most wearable? How would you go about recreating it in the salon?
The pony tail. Sweep hair into a low pony, secure and then spritz with a high strength hair spray, such as L’Oreal Professional techni.art Air Fix, to hold.
What hair products should no self-respecting fashionista be without?
For instant volume and texture we recommend L’Oreal Professional techni.art Super Dust.
A good strong hold hairspray, flexible in hairspray such as Shu Uemura Sheer Lacquer.
Katy Perry captured our attention with her ever-changing tresses last year. Which trend-setting celebs should we have our beady eyes on this year?
Jaime Winston and Jessie J - Jamie is always on trend (currently sporting an all over blonde do) and Jessie looks fab with her blunt fringe.
